What Persists
Series I & II, 2026

Fortitude & Discovery

What Persists was an idea that sprouted a few years ago when thoughts of old, ruminating wounds and the resilience of still being alive floated in my head.

Persistence is a reminder that we don’t all fully heal from the things that hurt us; sometimes they stay buried and then resurface when we least expect. Sometimes, traumatic thoughts pass by and as humans, we can’t help but realize that our past has shaped us to be who we are right now.

The first series, Fortitude is a story of resilience. The black background is a representation of life’s challenges and sufferings, with various flora emerging as a reminder that even in darkness there can be beauty—that despite these hardships humans are capable of upholding their being, soul, and trajectory of growth.

Discovery is what comes after the hard times. In the lightness of being, we are nudged of our endless capacity to create and influence positively. When storms have cleared and the light at the end of the tunnel is finally seen, we are reminded of our ability to dream, to love, and to continue shaping our identity in spite of unbearable circumstances.

Fortitude & Discovery are two sides of the same coin: It’s about our human nature to endure hardships in order to understand the one life we get to live, and to continue living in order to understand what is worth enduring all the hardships for.
